Semi-wild country garden

The clients in this Oxfordshire garden wanted to renovate a slightly neglected garden, while being careful not to destroy its maturity and special sense of place.

We excavated soil to discover old paths, encouraged Cow Parsley to self-sow in the newly planted orchard, recreated our client’s childhood nuttery and used a gentle palette of plants to enhance the existing structures. The result is a garden which feels as if it has developed gently over centuries and sits very comfortably in its village surroundings.

‘Kate is an inspired designer and a marvellous plantswoman. She will bring any garden to life. We found her wonderful on colour and texture.’
