Cottage garden

In this small, North Oxfordshire Cottage Garden, I wanted to create an explosion of flower colour, anchored by strong architectural elements to give year round interest. The garden, which runs alongside a busy village street, has been divided into rooms to create a private dining area, a vegetable garden and a flower garden, as well as lawn space for children to play. Here the linear path leads your eye to the lawn beyond, giving a greater sense of space. The path to the front door leads through the flower garden and so winter structure is as important as summer colour. Lollipop Holly trees provide this structure and are decked in fairy lights for Christmas.
