Large Farm Garden

The development of this five acre garden comes at the end of a major renovation project. The family had spent 8 years creating a beautiful home from a derelict farmhouse and needed a garden that would be sympathetic to the farm’s history and stunning setting. The site dates back to the Bronze Age and the brief was to create a garden which felt as if it had developed gently over the centuries and which re-anchored the house to its landscape after the building work. Work is ongoing with two separate gardens completed to date, an internal courtyard and some large perennial and grass beds which are allowed to age beautifully into Winter, mimicking the countryside beyond. Future projects include a new Walled Garden and an ‘Abbot’s Garden’ around the final resting place of some ancient residents.
